I have corrosion on the skeg
0:01
What is the best way to address this before painting? So if you're just painting your skeg
0:06
and you have a little bit of corrosion, sanding it down and then getting something like goof off
0:11
a red lime, muriatic acid, something that is going to eat corrosion off of there
0:17
and get you down to the bare metal to where you don't have any more corrosion on there
0:22
Depending on how bad it is, most of those chemicals are going to get all of that off
0:26
And if there is an issue, red lime, you could just take a bucket of red lime
0:30
and stick it up in there in the solution and let it sit over four hours, whatever it may be
0:36
for a period of time. It'll eat all that corrosion off after you've sanded it. You know what I'm saying
0:40
Like sand it, give it an acetone bath to clean everything off, contact cleaner, whatever
0:43
Then you'll be able to paint it. And I would paint it with zinc chromate and then do your primer, do your paint, do your clear coat
