Hey guys, welcome back for another video. Today we will be doing a 100 hour service on two Mercury Verado L6 engines. Enjoy the content and take care of your engines

To start, we want to tilt the engines to a 45 degree angle to allow all of the oil to drain from the cylinders into the oil pan

Then we will clean this surface here and create directional funnels for the oil, using the sides of the oil filter boxes and blue painter's tape

The oil drain screw is a 12mm and we change the yellow rubber seal here on every oil change

With the oil draining we can change the fuel filters. It is very important to push the hose into the fuel filter before depressing the red tab

With the red tab pushed in, then you can pull the hose off of the filter

And for the red tops, I suggest getting the proper tool to remove them. You want to loosen the filter up, then push up on the bottom of the canister so you can pull it out and remove the filter

Install the new one with a little grease and then put the canister back

Now for the oil filter we can use either a strap filter wrench or a universal one like this, if it's really stuck on

Watch out for the wires behind the filter then clean the surface and put some clean oil or a little grease on the new filter and strongly hand it on We change the thermostat next You want to take a pair of pliers and crimp down on the middle of the clamp and twist it to remove it Then there are two 516 inch or 8 millimeter bolts holding the

housing on. Twist on the housing to remove it, clean the surface, and grease the O ring on the

new thermostat housing as well as the bolts. Be careful not to roll the O ring when you

put the new one on, install the bolts carefully, tighten them down and crimp the new

Utica Clamp. Then we will remove the flywheel cover to change the belt

Put a 3 eighth inch ratchet into the tensioner in the on position and loosen it

You can then remove the belt. Install the new belt by first sliding it in over the starter bendix and then just make sure

that it seats properly onto all of the pulleys. The spark plugs on an L6 Verado are extremely easy

is a 516th inch or an 8mm bolt holding the ignition coil on. We need to unplug the coil

to remove it after removing the bolt. Then the spark plugs are a 5 eighth inch plug socket

Remember to get them started by hand and then torque them down by hand as well

We want to remove the props before pulling the lower units Use a chisel and a hammer to bend the tabs down and a 1 and 1 16th inch socket to remove the nut Use a block of wood between the prop and the cavitation plate if you are doing it by hand

It makes it a lot easier to put the lower units back on with one of the side chaps off

There are six 8mm bolts holding it on, with two little plastic clips on the front of the chaps

Pull out the rubber piece here to remove the anode. It requires a half inch socket

Then there are four three quarter inch nuts on the sides and one five eighth inch or 1116 inch bolt underneath the anode

Speaking of anodes, there is one here, two here on the lower unit and then five down here on the bracket

When we put the lower units back on, notice there is an L stamped on the prop shaft of the counter rotation gear case

Make sure they are in neutral and grease up the guide pins, water

tube shift shaft with the coupler installed onto it and the drive shaft. Then clean the studs on

the drive shaft housing and grease them up. Slide the drive shaft up into the housing and connect the

water hose by pressing it into the fitting. Then push the gear case up until you feel the splines

on the powerhead Twist the gear case until you feel the splines slide into the powerhead and install one bolt onto the front not worrying about the shift shaft We can then twist the shift coupler until it slides onto the shift shaft

With the gear case of neutral, you should be able to move the shift shaft up and down like this

Do not try and tighten the nut hoping that it will line up. That is how things get broken

Now before you tighten all the nuts, get the two back nuts started while the front nut is still

loose or else the back ones won't go on. Reinstall the anode and then grease up the nuts

the prop shafts and install the propellers. Don't forget to change the boat fuel filters and now we can add the oil and finish the service

We want the oil level to be at the upper section of the middle of the hatchmarks on the dipstick
