I've been having this shifting issue with this engine and what I've done is I've taken this piece off and I figured out that
0:06
whenever I mount this piece which goes like this, the mechanism that moves right here, this shift thing right here, when I move this back and forth
0:19
that little knob that's down there that's supposed to press, you see that little thing right there
0:24
that little nipple piece there, that is supposed to press this button here
0:32
Problem is that when it goes so far to one direction, this little metal tab flips up
0:38
and then that little piece gets stuck behind here, and it's like on the backside
0:42
So I don't know if this got bent out a little bit more than it should, and I need to bend it back
0:47
And then also on top of that, I don't think it is an actual shifting issue with my lower unit
0:54
like I missed a tooth or something because if I missed a tooth, whenever I'm in the neutral position
0:59
I would be able to feel like you would see that that piece right there would be off
1:04
you know, like a quarter of an inch or an eighth of an inch, whatever it would be if you're a one tooth off
1:09
So in order to fix this, what I'm going to do first of all is I want to move my throttle cable up here and get that out of the way
1:16
And I got my shift cable here. I'm going to move my throttle or my shifter down to the reverse position
1:24
and then see how far back that goes. Okay, that's how far back that goes there
1:29
which would bring this piece just past there. And then my neutral position
1:36
whenever I shift this thing back to neutral, boom, that's my neutral position
1:41
That's where my neutral is going to lie. And if I move my little thing right there
1:46
what does that look like? I've got a dot. There's a little position
1:54
here. Okay. So that's going to move this thing back to about right there
2:01
And my arrow so my arrow is pretty close I could really do a little bit of adjustment there but if you notice it kind of hard to see that there is a little bump right here and that bump matches up with this little arrow There an arrow there Those two are off by that much That all I off by which is probably just you know a little bit of a linkage in here I just need to spin this out a little bit to get that into position But where does that put my piece right there So that puts my piece I pretty sure
2:33
that that little nipple thing, if I'm looking at it correctly, you see it down there
2:37
That is pretty much in the neutral position, which means that my shift cable is correct
2:44
and that this thing is correct. And that means that my tooth is correct
2:49
So I should be all good to go. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to bend this little metal piece
2:56
I'm going to kind of bend it back a little bit to get that down so it's not sticking up as much as it is
3:01
and then I'll put this back on here and hopefully that fixes my problem
3:07
because I'm pretty sure this right here goes in between so like this this piece here slides up in between these two and my bolts
3:16
just go on the outside I don't think this thing goes on the outside I'm pretty sure this goes on the inside
3:21
to hold this into position and if I bend this back just a little bit that should keep
3:26
that should keep that should fix my problem so let me go ahead and bend this just a little
3:31
I'm going to put something in between here. I don't want to just bend on this button. I want to kind of bend this like this
3:37
in order to kind of up and down like that to get it down. But I'm going to bend this way a little bit more without to pressing my button to kind of get this in position
3:49
And I'll put this back on there and see if that fixes my problem if all it was was just this metal piece or not
4:01
All right, so I just want to check on the 90. Yamaha Schematics The 90 92 stroke We looking at a 2004 TLRC and I am looking for electrical
4:25
And somewhere in here is going to be our shifts. There it is
4:34
So here's our shift, is it? Okay, it goes on the outside of the bracket. So boom, figure that out
4:39
All right, this is going to go on the outside. It was right. I didn't have to stick it behind
4:43
So, yeah, that's that. Well, honestly, I think that's all
5:06
Well, honestly, I think that's all it was, was just that little metal piece had, like, flipped out a little bit
5:11
As I'm looking down in there, not sure if you can really see it, but when I shift it, like, you can see the button depress and undepress
5:22
So, like, right here is about my neutral. It's a little bit
5:28
That's about neutral right there, but I'm a little bit off on this right here
5:32
So realistically, I should be there for neutral, but it looks like, I mean, I could be a little bit off
5:38
Like if I see how the button just depress, now it's depressed again
5:44
So I mean I could be off a little bit there as far as that goes, but I can twist this out like that
5:54
Bam, that makes that. So now that's adjusted right at neutral. I'm just past that thing right there
6:00
I can tighten up my adjustment nut. And yeah, I think I'm golden there
6:07
So I'm gonna go ahead and actually just button the rest of this engine up. I've got all this stuff kind of off
6:11
I can clean up all my wiring here. Put this back on there. And that will finish up this shifting issue
6:18
That's all it was. That actually outstanding I don see my cotter pin though for this So let me go find my cotter pin and stick that in there I mean all I did was just kind of I moving this back and forth up here so like I show you I moving that and then I picking my hand
6:32
I'm spinning the prop by hand. And that's it, that's pretty much how you check that
6:57
So yeah, that was all my shifting problem was was that little metal tab just got itself bent out of the way it's supposed to be
7:05
So now what I'm going to do is go ahead and I can just stick this back into place
7:13
Boom, I can take my cotter pin and I can stick that back
7:20
into place so that way that's all done now I just need to clean up this wiring and I
7:25
could put this side chap this side piece back on there I could put the intake back
7:29
on there and I'll pretty much I'll be done bit this engine back here so this is
7:33
actually going to be a short video I wasn't expecting it to be that simple but it
7:38
was and that's a good thing I think I would call that successful because we only came out with one extra part, which this, I just don't remember which set of wires it went on
8:05
You know, all these are tucked back in here away from our shifting, away from our throttle, all that stuff
8:12
This part doesn't move, so that's why it's not that big of a deal there, but you want everything away from the shifting mechanisms and the throttle mechanisms, but
8:20
Yeah, I think this was just in this bundle of wire here, but I used zip ties and some other, the other one right there
8:27
So I'll just put this on here somewhere. There we go. Perfect
