As you can see, the waterline stain basically just dissolves away
0:10
So if you leave your boat in the water all the time, you might notice a yellowish stain develops on the bottom of the boat
0:17
Unless you have bottom paint on the boat that is, and we've got a video that shows you how you can add anti-fowling paint to your boat if you want to check that out
0:30
But without bottom paint, you're going to develop this stain on the bottom of the boat
0:36
and you will be able to notice it above the water line as well on the side of the boat
0:40
Typically, this is just called the waterline. Now, in order to get rid of this stain, you'll need to get the boat out of the water first
0:48
then, before attacking the stain, we need to pressure wash the boat and get all the growth off the bottom of the hull
0:54
All this growth won't be affected by what we use to remove the stains
1:00
And then, depending on how bad the stains are, and what has caused them, some stains won't come off with this chemical that we are about to use
1:09
So you want to take a pressure washer and get all that growth off the hall
1:42
and then we can attack the stains. You might be surprised at how easy this is to get this stain off the boat
1:52
but what we are going to use is extremely harmful and you need to be super careful when using it
1:57
We'll be acid washing this boat, but it's important to note that it's a specific acid
2:03
Now you want to make sure you do this with some wind or a fan to blow the fumes away from you
2:08
and wear gloves, glasses, a mask, don't get this on your skin
2:12
in or in your eyes If you do this in your yard all your grass will be dead If you do this on your driveway and you don spray it off the driveway it will eat holes in the concrete on your driveway So basically read the directions and use extreme caution but other than that you can just drive over to Home Depot and go into the paint section and there you will find this stuff called Meratic Acid for about You want to pick up a bottle of that and then get a plastic sprayer which is about 15 bucks
2:42
so you're all in cost here is just under $30. You can also use a paint roller and roll the acid on the bottom of the boat as well
2:50
but it's all up to you. The most important thing is to have a hose ready to spray this stuff down and don't get it on you
2:56
Pour the acid into the sprayer and then just walk around the boat spraying the acid on the boat and letting it run down the hull, and as you can see, the waterline stain basically just dissolves away
4:17
Now if you look at the bottle here, it says you can use this for brightening concrete
4:27
masonry, brick, stone, etching concrete, and cleaning the scum from boat hulls
4:32
So it's some pretty awesome stuff, but it's super dangerous, so don't get it on you
4:37
After walking around the boat and spraying or rolling it onto the hull, you'll just need to come back around and spray all the acid off the boat with the hose
4:45
and now you've gotten rid of the stain. It also reveals the shape of your haul too, so boat hulls like this, you can tell that they have seen some time on the water
