Rust stains on a boat are not an uncommon thing, but they are something that no one really likes to look at
0:08
And if you have a really nice boat, then they stand out all the more
0:12
We've all tried many ways of getting these stains off from regular cleaners, boat soaps
0:20
Zep, bleach, comet, and other cleaners that just don't seem to work, leaving us wondering there has to be a better way
0:28
And there is. It's not. there is. It's not an expensive branded rust stain remover either. Now there are a couple
0:34
of different ways to remove rust stains from your fiberglass and one of those ways is to use
0:39
harsh chemicals. Something like meratic acid which we showed it in a separate video
0:45
on how to remove the water line stain from your hall. But that is a seriously harsh chemical, and with a lot of these chemicals, it does take
1:05
off the stains, but it also affects the gel coat. And if you have the time, it's best to wax the fiberglass after acid washing the boat
1:13
There are many things that can leave rust stains on a boat, too
1:18
Everything from bottle caps to fishing hooks
1:28
old rusting metal handles, cleats, or vent covers. Boats take a beating in the sun and the
1:33
water and the weather in general, but don't worry, there is a really easy way to remove the rust stains
1:39
and it's not expensive to do either. It's actually pretty funny the way that I found out about the stuff that we're about to
1:47
show you. About six or seven years ago I had cleaned a teetop on one of our old boats and
1:53
I had used steel wool on it which as most of you that have seen our video on how to clean the aluminum on your boat teetop already know the trick to avoid this issue But after cleaning it it rained really hard that night
2:05
and all of the metal pieces that came from the steel wool had created these little rust spots
2:09
all over the boat. I mean, they were everywhere in the boat. And you couldn't get them off for anything
2:14
Not having a lot of money, I was reading a form or something somewhere, or maybe someone told me about this, but I can't remember right now
2:21
Either way, you can go to Home Depot and get a gallon of this stuff for only 10
2:25
bucks and this stuff works amazingly. All you have to do is pour it onto the rust stain you want to clean or pour it into a
2:37
spray bottle depending on the rust stain that you are going to work on
2:40
Then just spray the stuff onto the spot. Now we just sit and wait
2:55
Not for that long either, within a few minutes, I'd say less than five, the rust will magically disappear
3:06
For tight spaces, really old stains, and on vertical locations though, you might have to get out a little plastic brush or get out your deck brush the stain off
3:15
And if you have to, just give it a little scrubbing to get the stain completely off
3:25
Other than that, you just have to spray it down with some water and wash the stain completely away
3:55
I going to give a shout out to a subscriber Jaku
4:11
They suggested we check out these umbrellas about a month ago and we ended up getting one in and man this thing is awesome
4:25
It is super heavy though, but dude, when you open this thing up, it's solid as a rock
4:30
You can see how the wind's blowing and this thing doesn't even move. They said that it can stand up to 60 mile an hour winds, which is actually incredible for an umbrella
4:38
especially for us, because we are out in the sun all the time and I'm just stoked that Ja'aku let us know about them
4:55
I'll put a link in the description if anyone that works outside wants to check these out
5:13
But back to our rust stain, we put some tape on this spot just to show the before and after of this stuff
5:19
It's pretty awesome. You literally just have to spray it on and watch the rust go away
5:25
I'm going to be. The The The
6:39
You can also use some toilet bowl cleaners and they work pretty good as well, but this
6:43
stuff is still my favorite so far when it comes to getting the rust stains off of a boat
6:54
Now it doesn't work as well on metal or aluminum but that's a different story because it's
6:58
not necessarily a stain on the metal, it's actually eating into the metal or the finish that
7:04
is on the metal. So for that you will need to use a Scotch bright pad or what we used in the T-top video
7:24
So go over and check that video out now. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel, hit that like button, and oh yeah, you probably
7:33
want to know what the name of the stain remover is, huh
7:40
Well, it's just a gallon of goof-off stain remover. That's it. For 10 bucks, it's fantastic
7:46
