So today we're going to be spending a little more time on the experience side of boating compared to the technical aspects of boating by doing some water tests at over 100 miles per hour
0:30
This here is a 35-foot motion catamaran. It's got a 9-foot motion catamaran
0:53
It's got a 9-foot beam, it only weighs 3,200 pounds, and the boat will hold 200 gallons of fuel
0:59
gallons of fuel. It's powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 horsepower electronic fuel injected stern drive engines
2:42
The engines have Mercury Racing Bravo 1 XR Sportmaster Drive units on them
2:58
with 4-blade Bravo 1-34 pitch propellers. You might notice that the props are swapped here where the port drive is running the right-hand
3:06
prop and the starboard is running the left hand. This is called turning in
3:11
And with the props turned in like this, it helps to pull the stern down and go over chop a lot more proficiently at high speed
3:41
Now when running a boat like this, it does take a while longer to plane out
4:11
But then once it breaks free, it's just a smooth cruise through the mid-range, then depending
4:18
on the boat, like for this one, it will have a porpoising phase where it kind of bounces up and
4:23
down for a moment as you work up in speed. Then once you up there in the 80s and 90s it smooths out and it just a straight wind tunnel once you pass 100 miles an hour
5:00
I'm definitely no expert when it comes to boat racing or speedboats
5:20
so I can't give you much more technical information than that, but it is amazing that you can just sit in the boat at 100 miles an hour and still have a conversation
5:29
but if you stick your head up past the windshield, you won't hear anything but wind
5:59
Oh, and so on the MOYAWKHA I'm going to be
6:47
Oh, yeah, and so. Oh, yeah. Oh. And so
7:47
