Let's do one more question from Garplan

Um, I mean, they ain't that new no more. Pretty sure they came out like what
0:18
16, 17, 18, something like that. So they're six, eight years old
0:22
So coming up on, I want to say it's 16 when they came out
0:26
So we're coming up, we're eight years, we're coming up on a decade. So they ain't that new
0:30
But most of the issues that we've seen with those are starter issues
0:38
Um, what most of them are wire harness issues by and large in the very, very
0:44
brand new ones, like the early, early, early models, there was some shift actuator issues, those are all pretty much gone
0:51
The starter issues for the most part, those are gone. I mean, that kind of comes and goes
0:56
There was a diverter on the cowling where the cowling would be taking in
1:00
water when they was trimmed up and it would go down and trip on the starter and they would fail and they made diverters to divert that water
1:07
But that again, you know, that's early stuff. And then there was, you know, back in COVID, I mean, they've been calling
1:15
them COVID engines now, like for any engine that was built during COVID
1:21
regardless of the brand, we've had problems, seen problems with components. Um, there for a while, there was no oil filters for the engines because one of
1:31
the manufacturers that was manufacturing the oils just said we're done manufacturing oils and they had to find a whole new supplier for all the oil filters
1:39
So, you know, there was that problem. Other than that, most of the problems are all gone away
1:44
The, I mean, even the, even the wire harnesses, I don't think that, um
1:49
they're failing as they were. They've kind of figured that out. There, they had an FSM problem for a little while, but again, these were like
1:56
you know, component problems based on the supplier, based on the components
2:02
You know, it wasn't really a V8 engine problem. We don't see V8s blow up that much
2:07
So as far as the block and the other platform goes, it's, it's a solid platform
2:12
I mean, if you look at it, the engine is, is lightweight, torquey, and
2:19
built like solid all the way around. That's why you can see that platform is basically the entire Mercury lineup
2:26
Now from 200 up, like V6, V8, V10, V12, they're all basically the same engine
2:35
just with, you know, more of them stacked up. So it's a very solid platform
2:41
Weight wise, torque wise, like really good, but common issues. That's mainly what I can think of as far as that
2:49
So early years, starters, the FSM issues, the wiring harness issues, shift actuator
2:59
issues, but again, most of that stuff's all been done away with, except, you know
3:05
like, and it would be batched out between years. So like, you know, this model serial number to this model serial number would
3:13
have, you know, let's say if it was an FSM problem, this one would have it based
3:18
on this is the period of time when the FSM builder, you know, the supplier was
3:23
messing those up so that, you know, those are those kinds of related things
3:27
But I wouldn't say that there's any common issues outside of those that have
3:31
not been addressed and fixed and, you know, kind of done away with
3:36
